         Position:   Maintenance Worker – Community Recreation                 NA-4749-07

                        Salary:      $18.39 HOURLY

Location:  Naval Air Station Fallon

                        AREA OF CONSIDERATION: NAS FALLON local commuting area

MAJOR DUTIES: The incumbent performs work in at least two of the following trades in maintenance and repair of rental gear, exterior structures, buildings and related fixtures and utilities:  Plumbing, Carpentry and Painting.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Two years of experience that demonstrates knowledge in the applicable combination of trades sufficient to perform the duties of the position. Works under general supervision.  The majority of the work is performed independently where the incumbent makes decisions based on personal and professional knowledge.  Must be able to do considerable standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.  Lifts, carries and sets up materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds un-assisted and occasionally up to 100 pounds or more assisted.  Work is performed both inside and outside with exposure to dirt, paint vapors and fumes.  Operates vehicles to transport tools and materials to work site.  Forklift certification preferred, but not required.  Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.  Must be able to communicate clearly an effectively with co-workers and customers, both verbally and in writing, in English.  Performs other related duties as assigned.  Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation.  Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
