MAJOR DUTIES: Performs a variety of tasks in connection with the preparation of a limited variety of foods. Provides assistance to cooks in the food preparation area. Serves customers at counter; receives orders and serves food and beverages in accordance with prescribed portions. May be required to clear tables. Cleans dishes, tables and equipment, sweeps and mops floors. Operates a cash register: Collects money and computes change according to cash handling procedures. Responsible for change funds. Completes daily activity reports (DARS) and ensures proper deposit of cash receipts according to established procedures. Assists in taking inventory. Responsible for complying with all safety, fire and sanitation rules and regulations. Performs housekeeping tasks to ensure proper standards of appearance, cleanliness and safety of assigned spaces. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Must have skill to organize work assignments in a logical sequence, execute tasks quickly and accurately and meet strict meal schedules. Must understand food terminology, measurements and serving information. Must have knowledge and skill to apportion food items according to approved portion control practices. Required to have a thorough understanding of routine methods and procedures used in all functional areas of the food service operation and skill to train lower grade workers in such methods and procedures. Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation.
